Big Paws Protection Plan

North Maclean Family Vet - Gastric Dilation-Volvulus (GDV) & Gastropexy

Congratulations! You have *officially* survived the puppy stages – but we all know that *unofficially* the puppy cheekiness might still happen for years to come… We can’t wait to share the photos and videos with you and hear the funny stories about what they have gotten up to lately! We will be there through the highs and lows and support you in every way we can.

Whilst the toilet training may not be continuing, there are still many hurdles that your fur-baby will be facing or must overcome. There may still be anxiety to navigate, and uncertainty in new situations or meeting new people or other animals. Let’s be honest, most full-grown dogs still think they are a puppy and don’t know the weight/size that they throw around. So, the rules may have to change a little around the house…

On the vet side, things have settled a bit. Puppy vaccination course – check! But when are they next due? Microchip – check! But have you moved or changed your details? Desexing check! But if you own a large breed male dog this hurdle may still be coming your way! Intestinal worm treatments are now not as frequent – woohoo! But this makes it easier to forget, because…

Life happens!

We have pets as well, and we know how easy it is for life to get in the way and simple little things like worming or flea and tick prevention to get forgotten. With the knowledge of how confusing and sometimes stressful it can be having a pet, along with our core value of providing exceptional patient care, we have done the homework and taken the stress and confusion out of preventative care for you and your fur-family.

Our Big Paws Protection Plan allows you to ‘set and forget’ your dog’s preventative care but also understand the value and importance of protecting your pet. We have simplified it to the products that matter and reduced the burden on you of having to remember when something needs to be given, what it is, and then the struggle to give it!

Along with vaccinations, we help you protect your dog against:

Paralysis Ticks

Paralysis ticks are tiny parasites but have a deadly consequence! One small tick can cause a range of scary and dangerous signs in your pet and can be fatal if not treated! Treatment involves intensive veterinary care, and the costs can quickly add up. Prevention is cheaper and easier than treatment! There are several products on the market to prevent paralysis ticks from giving you heartache – but the golden rule is that nothing is 100%!

We recommend giving a simple and easy injection which gives 12 months protection against paralysis ticks and fleas!

Heartworm

The next most deadly parasite that we need to protect against is heartworm. Heartworm is spread by mosquitos – so the threat is always there! Heartworm can be fatal and also requires an expensive and intensive treatment regime. Like paralysis ticks, prevention is cheaper and easier than treatment!

We recommend simple and easy heartworm injections to help prevent this disease, which last for 12 months!

Intestinal Worms

Intestinal worms can wreak havoc in the bodies of dogs and can infect humans too! A good quality, reliable intestinal worming treatment will keep your dog protected from the harmful effects of worms and keep you and your family safe too.

We recommend Popantel Allwormer tablets every 3 months to prevent intestinal worm infections.

What do you need to know?

  • One up-front cost for your dog’s preventative care. No more having to allocate funds to your dog’s ongoing health care each month!
  • We will pre-book each appointment in the Big Paws Protection Plan, so you can plan ahead and know your dog’s care won’t get forgotten in the craziness that we call life!
  • Improved socialisation in a safe environment means you are continuing to support your dog, giving it an amazing life, with reduced anxiety levels and an improved ability to cope in new situations! This will have a massive impact on your stress levels as well!
  • Bundles must be used within the allocated time frame, otherwise they will expire. Bundles cannot be transferred to another pet or client and are non-refundable.
