Radiation Iodine Therapy
Vet Resources

This therapy is considered gold standard in feline hyperthyroidism treatment, and is curative in most cases. In successful cases, these patients should not need on-going medications to manage their thyroid disease, and will need reduced follow-up care compared to patients treated with daily therapies (oral medications or prescription diets). I131 therapy has only been available at specialist referral centres, until now.
I131 Therapy will be available at NMFV from August 2024, and we are taking bookings now. If you would like an information pack or have any questions, please contact our Radiation Coordinators on radiation@northmacleanfamilyvet.com.au or call us on (07) 3297 0803.
Our aim is to make this treatment more accessible for you and your patients, while helping you maintain your client-patient bond. Pre-treatment and follow up testing can be performed within your own clinic. We can assist you with case selection and management of potential complications as required.
Please find our resources below, providing further information on the pre-treatment requirements, I131 therapy and follow up testing.
