Erica Young

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (BVsc (Hons))

Erica graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013. She grew up in the cold climate of New England, NSW, but has made sunny QLD her home since graduation. Since graduating, Erica has worked at a busy mixed animal practice in Jimboomba, and a busy small animal practice in Springfield. She has a keen interest in surgery and spends a lot of time outside of work studying from some of the best surgeons in South East Queensland. While surgery is her special interest, Erica loves all part of general practice.  She strives to provide an ‘all-around’ approach to her work, and values being able to provide the best care for her patients in all circumstances.

When Erica isn’t working or studying, she can often be found enjoying snuggles from her two cats, Hamish and Rory, and catching up on the latest sci-fi shows. You may also find her at the rifle range or at the gym working on her Aerial Silks performances.

Kylie McDonald

Practice Manager and Owner (BVsc (Hons))

Kylie graduated from the University of Queensland with honours in 2012. She has worked in busy small animal practices in South East Queensland where she built up a loyal client base.  Kylie is passionate about complex anaesthesia cases, fluid therapy management, and the administrative side of veterinary work. Kylie grew up near Jimboomba, where her love of animals blossomed with pet cows, sheep, ducks, chickens, cats and dogs.

In her spare time, Kylie loves spending time with her young family, baking delicious treats and making personalised gifts and home decor for her small hobby business. Kylie’s extended ‘fur family’ consists of ‘Ellie’ and ‘Jimmy’ (two Border Collie crosses) and ‘Tipsy’ and ‘Turvy’, two cheeky ginger rescue cats!

Anna Hollingsworth

Veterinarian (BVSc (Hons))

Anna graduated from the University of Queensland with honours in 1996. Since graduation, she has worked all over the world, with volunteer work in India and Borneo, as well as routine companion animal vetting in the UK in her background.

Anna is passionate about being a GP, family-style vet and strives to provide compassionate, sensible care for all her patients and their families. She also has training in veterinary acupuncture and can offer this service for patients that may benefit from this added treatment.

Outside of work, Anna is usually at home with her family, seven sheep, nine chooks and a large fluffy ginger cat called Kevin. She can also be found out and about trail running and training for long distance triathlons.

Dr Jess

Veterinarian (BVSc)
Dr Jess graduated from James Cook University in 2018. She spent her first year after graduating working in Maryborough but returned back to Brisbane, where she spent a few years as a house call veterinarian. Dr Jess takes an empathetic and thorough approach with her patients and clients. She loves a good chat, and can’t go without her morning coffee.

In her spare time, Jess loves to work on her pottery, as well as spending time with her partner and fur baby, Mimosa.

Dr Nikita

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Nikita grew up in the Greenbank area, and has been living here for over 13 years! She did a placement at NMFV as a student and loved it so much she came back twice! While doing her clinical placements, Nikita found a passion for GP work, getting to know clients and their fur families, and helping to build the human-animal bond. She now loves everything GP, from behaviour to dentistry, dermatology and arthritis management.

Outside of work Nikita enjoys relaxing with her cat Birdie, cross stitching or playing musical instruments (piano and violin). You can also catch her playing goalkeeper on the soccer field on weekends!

Melanie Reynolds

Eva grew up in a big family in NZ but originally came from the UK. Before starting her studies, she ventured back to the UK for 6 months to travel and has ticked off more than 30 countries!

Eva has always loved animals and absolutely loves her Staffy-butts in particular, she has a strong passion for surgical nursing but also loves working on building relationships with pet parents to make sure their fur babies experience is as positive as possible. When Eva is not working you’ll find her spending time with her partner and dog Brux working on their property, touring in the caravan, going beach hopping on the boat or exploring somewhere she hasn’t been before.

Tiffany Murray

Veterinary Technician

Tiffany has been vet nursing since 2006. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Queensland – majoring in Veterinary Technology. She grew up in Brisbane and can’t imagine calling anywhere but Queensland home.

Tiffany has spent most of her career working in general practice, but has also spent time in Emergency & Specialist clinics. She is passionate about the client and patient journey in the vet clinic, and has a special interest in caring for hospital patients. Seeing a patient recover and go home to their families is one of the most rewarding things you can experience as a vet nurse.

On her days off you’ll find Tiffany enjoying the great outdoors camping or soaking up the sun at the beach. She has two fur babies at home called Kofu (dog) and Missy (her cat). She has recently had an addition to their household – her daughter, beautiful baby Paige!

Tiffany will be returning from her parental leave later on this year.

Sian Dowling Rhodes

Hiii, my name is Sian but most people call me Si.

I’ve been a qualified vet nuse for a new years now. I love my unusual pets and have an interest in emergency cases.

I live in an acerage with my Fiancé and have many furry and feathered crittrs running around. My animals are my everything which is why I’m very passionate about the welfare and health of animals and giving them all the love in the world.

Although I’m in GP practise for our fur babies my favourite animal is a shark and I hope one day I get to free dive with the great whites down in Port Lincoln SA.

Shakirra Newman

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Shakirra is currently a second-year vet student at the University of Queensland and will be undergoing some vet nurse duties to kick-start her career in the industry. She has always had a passion for helping animals and loves seeing sick animals rejuvenate and be able to return home! Her special interest is cardiology, although she loves to learn about all aspects of patient care! Shakirra is excited to join the team and get to know all the local pets who visit our clinic. She currently owns a very excited and energetic Border Collie named Patch.

When she is not working (or studying!) you can find her camping, at the beach or spending time with Patch on any new outdoor adventures.

Meg Berghofer

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Meg commenced her veterinary nursing in 2021.  She has a Certificate II in Animal Studies and is currently completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.  Meg’s passion for animals started from a very young age, making veterinary nursing the perfect career choice!  Growing up on acreage property, her pets included horses, cattle, goats, chickens, dogs, birds, guinea pigs, lizards, and fish.

Meg has always had a love for all kinds of animals.  When Meg is not working, you will find her on her aunt and uncle’s beef property, riding a horse, on a dirt bike/ quad bike or just helping on the farm with the cattle.

Kieren McNamee

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Kieren is currently our only male team member who is almost finished studying his Certificate III in Animal Care. He has always wanted to be in the animal care industry, and managed to get a job with North Maclean Family Vet while he was still completing Grade 11! He is looking forward to starting his Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing this year.

When Kieren is not working, you can find him hanging out at Hungry Jacks, or spending time with his dog Rocky at the dog park.

Rebecca Porter

Client Care Representative

Rebecca has been lucky enough to work in the Veterinary Industry for nearly twenty-five years. She was a qualified Veterinary Nurse for ten years before moving into Veterinary Administration, Human Resources, Client Care & Marketing. Her desire to return to front of clinic & to the pets & people she enjoys helping has seen her join the team at North Maclean Family Vet.

Rebecca has three babies Sprinkles (tabby cat), Sprocket (Fox Terrier mix) & Rosa (Poodle). Rebecca and her husband enjoy camping every chance they get & love beach & bush walking. Rebecca has one son who pays rent by looking after his fur brothers & sisters while she goes camping!

Shannon Wilson

Client Care Representative

Shannon graduated from ACU with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Philosophy, with a minor in Psychology. Some of her hobbies include painting, drawing, reading, and playing netball with her friends. When not at work, you can find Shannon outside with her adorable German Shepherd Rosie, whose favourite game is to play with the hose and chase it all over the yard, chomping the water.

Shannon has a passion for connecting with animals and their owners, and will happily assist however she can to make your time with us as comfortable and seamless as possible. She has experience with anxious/reactive pets and is happy to make accommodations however she can to best support you and the experience for your pets while visiting us.

Ellie

Ellie is a Border Collie Cross owned by Dr Kylie. She is very food orientated, and is the reason the food bin is locked down! She is very smart and loves her clicker training. She enjoys showing off her tricks at Kindy talks with Kylie, and really, to anyone that is holding food.

Jimmy

Jimmy is a Cattle Dog owned by Dr Kylie. He loves attention of any sort, and will happily sit with/on you and hold hands for hours!

Tipsy

Tipsy is a 3-legged amputee owned by Dr Kylie. She was rescued as a kitten. Tipsy loves to put herself all on display and pancake upside down! She may be quiet, but she is always close by Kylie and the kids! She loves running around with her soulmate, Turvy.

Turvy

Master Turvy is owned by Dr Kylie, and proudly takes the position of problem child in the fur-family! Kylie fostered Turvy for a long weekend, and he never left! He craves attention so much he loses his voice crying/looking for Kylie! Turvy has had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia repaired by Dr Erica, and pulled through like a trooper! He shares his day sleeping on all the kids beds, but loves to sleep on Kylie’s chest the most. His loud purr keeps her awake. He loves to keep Tipsy on her toes but wouldn’t be without his playmate.

Hamish

Hamish is a Domestic Short Hair that Dr Erica adopted as a 10-week-old kitten from an abandoned litter — she hadn’t even had her first shift when she decided to take him! He is very vocal and loves to chat and snuggle. Hamish is too clever for his own good — he has learned to open doors if they have handles! He is the resident hunter/sock thief, but sometimes mixes it up with small toys too.

Hamish is the cheeky older brother to Rory — he kicks him off the best beds and steals his food, but does love him. Dr Erica frequently finds them snuggling together, playing together and grooming each other.

Rory

Dr Erica adopted Rory when he was 8 week olds, from another abandoned litter! He isn’t much of a cuddler unless it’s cold, but loves to slink around your legs and enjoys pats. He smooches very aggressively when it’s dinner time!

Rory takes his yoga very seriously — he stretches multiple times a day, he’s the stretchiest cat Dr Erica has ever seen! Sometimes he will put his front feet on your slippers, or the egg-carton-toy on the floor, then stretch forwards, and he will go sliding down the hallway! (Known as the Stretchy-Slides in our house)

Rory also enjoys a good chat, especially if you’re unloading the dishwasher! The sound of the dishes and cutlery being put away makes for a very intense discussion! (Known as Dishwasher Chats)

Rory is usually the instigator of play time, but he tries to be sneaky about it, he will sit innocently next to Hamish and then will bite Hamish’s foot! Then there is a lot of chasing and wrestling; they both love it!

Missy

Missy is owned by Nurse Tiffany, and is a Domestic Short Hair. She was a stray kitten brought into the clinic that Tiffany took home for a long weekend, and she never left. Her favourite hobby ..  sleeping!

Mikey

Mikey is a 10 year old Papillon Cross. He has a “little” eye. He can see and is completely happy in life. Although Mikey is small, he makes his presence known!

Patch

Patch is a pure-bred Border Collie owned by Nurse Shakirra. He loves to play fetch and will take any opportunity to herd anything in site (usually other dogs in the dog park). He also enjoys apples and carrots as a treat each morning!

Storm

Storm is an 8 year old Shepherd Cross. Nurse Melanie adopted Storm into our family in August 2021. She loves going for a walk, going to the park and absolutely loves sleeping on the couch.

Birdie

Birdie is a Domestic Short Hair that Dr Nikita adopted from the RSPCA in her first year of vet school. She’s very chatty and loves sleeping on bean bags.

One of her funniest quirks is that she loves company while eating, and will find someone and lead them to the food bowl so they can watch her while she eats!

Sprinkles

Sprinkles the Tabby is owned by Rebecca. She was born at a vet clinic but was surrendered, so home with Rebecca she went!

Sprocket and Rosa

Sprocket the Fox Terrier is owned by Rebecca. She was another surrender from a previous vet clinic, and was adopted by Rebecca as a puppy.

Rosa, also owned by Rebecca, is a scruffy three-legged Poodle who was (yep you guessed it) another surrender so home with Rebecca she went!

Rosie

Rosie is a cheeky, energetic girl owned by Shannon, who picks a new favourite toy every few weeks and neglects the other hundred or so lying around the house in the meantime.

She’s very clever and knows many tricks, some of which she taught herself, like how to use her puppy dog eyes to manipulate her humans into giving her treats!

She loves going on long sniffy walks to different parks, ovals, & nature walks, using her 50m long lead so she can take her leisurely time sniffing every blade of grass to her hearts content.

Rocky

Rocky is a pure-bred Pug, owned by Nurse Kieren.

His loud and chaotic personality is always very clear when he visits the clinic – he has to make sure he gets cuddles from everyone! Rocky has just become a proud dad to 4 adorable pug-tatoes.

Brux

Brux is a Staffy x German Shepherd owned by Nurse Eva. Brux is very high energy and definitely an athlete, whether it be paddle-boarding, swimming, kayaking or hiking nothing is out of his capability.

Brux is super food motivated but loves his ball above all else, he will occupy himself for hours trying to flick it in his mouth (as long as someone is watching him). Brux doesn’t believe in personal space and is not afraid to demand pats!

Tippy

Tippy is a Torti DSH that found Nurse Eva. She showed up in a shipping container on her property very underweight and had a paralysis tick on her neck.

Tippy LOVES food and is often found eating her dog brother’s food (lucky he doesn’t mind). Tippy is pretty obsessed with her dog brother Brux and follows him around, attempting head bops which he always tries to avoid.

Tippy is a pretty independent girl but will make herself known when she wants cuddles and attention, although if you try and pick her up, she is out of there!!

Mimosa

Mimosa is a Labrador x Groodle owned by Dr Jess. Mimi (for short) loves to jump into the dam, ride the waves at the beach and absolutely loves a cuddle in the bed. If not playing with her toys, she can be found lying at your feet requesting scratches.
